New Delhi: The Unique Identity Authority of India (UIDAI) has shared seven measures to prevent Aadhaar abuse or Aadhaar fraud. The Aadhaar Identity Platform is one of the key pillars of ‘Digital India’, in which every resident in the country is given a unique identity. Your name, date of birth, address, mobile number, email id and other details are part of the Aadhaar credentials. UIDAI has listed 7 measures to prevent Aadhaar fraud

1. Aadhaar verification

The government has said that Aadhaar should be verified before it can be accepted as proof of identity. “Not all 12-digit numbers are Aadhaar. It is therefore recommended that the Aadhaar be checked before it can be accepted as proof of identity. To check Aadhaar online, one has to visit the official website –, ”UIDAI said.

2. Aadhaar OTP

Aadhaar OTP is a convenient and powerful tool to use Aadhaar authentication from anywhere. Use it yourself. Never share it with someone else to use on your behalf. To verify the mobile number you receive Aadhaar OTP.

3. Aadhaar authentication history

You can check the Aadhaar authentication history of 50 authentications in the last six months. The exact date and time of the confirmation are mentioned in the results, which will help you notice if there is an undesirable confirmation entry.

4. Aadhaar download on a public computer

It is important to understand that using the official UIDAI website should always be the preferred option for creating Aadhaar. If you use a public computer to download, be sure to delete the downloaded file.

5. Lock your Aadhaar biometrics

6. Masked Aadhaar

If you do not wish to disclose your Aadhaar number, you can use VID or Masked Aadhaar which is valid and widely accepted. The masked Aadhaar number indicates replacing the first 8 digits of the Aadhaar number with some letters like “xxxx-xxxx” but only the last 4 digits of the Aadhaar number are visible.
