Responding to media queries regarding Kuwait’s foreign ministry’s statement on India’s objectionable tweets, a spokesman for the Indian embassy in Kuwait said: “Ambassador CB George has met at the Foreign Office and expressed concern. Strict action has already been taken against those who made derogatory remarks. The respective quarters also issued a statement emphasizing respect for all religions, denigrating any religious figure, or belittling any religion or sect. “The tweets do not in any way reflect the views of the Government of India,” the ambassador said. These are views of the fringe elements, ”the spokesman said.

“In keeping with our strong cultural traditions of unity in our civic heritage and diversity, the Government of India pays the highest respect to all religions,” the spokesman said.

The spokesman insisted on working together against such mischievous elements aimed at undermining the strength of bilateral relations between the two countries.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday suspended its spokesperson Nupur Sharma from the party’s primary membership and ousted Delhi media chief Naveen Kumar Jindal following the alleged remarks against minorities and the Prophet Mohammed.
